Note the van Hove singularities at the band edges of the quasi one dimensional band crossing the Fermi level, and note the hybridization with the cation d state in particular at the upper band edge, that is, at the zone boundary, where the hybridization with the Cu d state is optimum. (It is zero at zone center.)
